Easter Bank
Local event at Scarboro and National at Gt Yarmouth
And it was the Coldest Easter for 50 years!
First off Scarboro, signs were not good,
snow was forecast and duly arrived Saturday morning and when the snow
stopped falling, a gale blew up. The A64 was tretcherous and I saw only
two twist and go's from Gemini all the way up. Could not work out which
direction the wind was coming from. It blew me all over the road and the
journey took twice as long as it should have. Once there met Stu Mitch
who'd stopped overnight Friday and saw PC Pete from his best angle...a
distance. The Cricketeers was packed and the entertainment was
apparently very good but I only stopped a couple of hours before heading
off home just before they closed Marine Drive due to the high seas, most
of the roads were covered in sand, seaweed and driftwood anyway. Shops
were full of scooter collectables for those interested in such things.
Set off just in time to hit a blizzard on the way home
Yarmouth next. 3 lonely souls set off on
scooters in very strong winds on Friday morn, Kelvin, Cookie and Andy
Mitch...backed up by Sheila in van. Cookie managed to nip the Sx up at
about 50 miles and Andy " ran out of petrol " and had to
push it a mile and half .We thought we were doomed and for a split
second nearly turned back. No further ado and arrive safely after 7
hrs in saddle. Quiet in Yarmouth...all the talk was about the weather
and the ride home !!..Sun morn was as predicted ......snowing....we
battled through blizzards for about 60 miles , never seen so many
broken down scoots, mainly Vespas, then the sun shone...we had no
mishaps and arrived back in Olympia for a pint after 6 hours in saddle
